Game Overview

Ever played one of those old-school Hugo games? This GBA version nails the weird, frantic energy of the series—you're a troll with terrible luck, bouncing between bottomless pits and angry witches while trying to save your family. The controls are simple (run, jump, occasionally whack things), but the levels get surprisingly devious. One minute you're hopping across floating logs, the next you're dodging fireballs from a cackling mirror demon.

What I love is how unapologetically silly it is. Hugo grumbles when he falls, enemies explode into comical puffs of smoke, and the whole thing feels like a Saturday morning cartoon. Some of the platforming can be janky—expect a few cheap deaths—but that’s part of the charm. If you’ve got a soft spot for early 2000s handheld chaos, this one’s a solid time capsule.
