Game Overview
Hybris is one of those Amiga shooters that feels like it was plucked straight from an arcade—fast, chaotic, and just punishing enough to keep you coming back. You pick between two pilots (I always went with Maverick, no real reason), then dive straight into a desert planet swarming with aliens. The first thing you’ll notice? Enemies don’t just come from above—they spiral in from all sides, dodging your shots while filling the screen with bullets.
Your ship starts off weak, but those floating power cubes change everything. Shoot one, and suddenly you’ve got extra firepower or a new weapon configuration. The best part? Your ship actually looks stronger as you upgrade, which is a nice touch. And when things get too messy, there’s always the panic-button smart bomb to clear the screen.
It’s simple, but the way enemies swarm and the upgrades stack makes every run feel a little different. Just don’t expect the colonists to thank you—surviving is reward enough.
