Inspector Gadget: Advance Mission came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, developed by Light & Shadow Production. It was part of that early wave of GBA titles that tried to capture the feel of older cartoons with simple, colorful graphics and straightforward action. You don't see many licensed games from that era that tried to do something a little different with the formula, but this one gave it a shot.
You control Inspector Gadget, Penny, and Brain across a series of side-scrolling levels, switching between them to use their unique abilities. Gadget bumbles through with his extendable limbs and gadgets, Penny sneaks into small vents to access new areas, and Brain uses disguises to bypass certain enemies. The main goal is to stop Dr. Claw's plans by navigating platforming challenges, avoiding traps, and defeating M.A.D. agents. The game moves at a steady pace, though some sections can feel a bit trial-and-error due to Gadget's unwieldy controls. It feels like a silly, slightly chaotic cartoon adventure where things go wrong as often as they go right.
