Game Overview
Iridion 3D was one of those early GBA games that tried to flex the system’s power—and honestly, it kinda worked. You’re thrown into this pseudo-3D space shooter where everything’s polygonal and weirdly hypnotic, blasting alien ships to a thumping techno soundtrack. The controls are simple—just dodge and shoot—but the patterns get brutal fast. I remember getting wrecked by the second boss until I figured out its tells.
It’s rough around the edges (those early 3D attempts always were), but there’s something charming about how hard it goes. The sequel and Nanostray games smoothed things out later, but this one’s got that janky, ambitious energy of a launch title. You can tell Shin’en was pushing what the GBA could do.
