James Bond Jr. came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by THQ. It was one of many licensed games from that era, trying to capture a bit of the movie magic in 8-bit form. You don't play as the famous spy, but as his nephew, which always felt like a strange choice for an action game.
You control James Bond Jr. through side-scrolling levels, shooting a pistol at henchmen and jumping across platforms. The main goal is to rescue captured scientists from the villain SCUM. You explore areas screen by screen, and sometimes you have to find keycards to open doors, which acts as a simple puzzle. The pacing is frantic because many stages have a strict time limit that adds constant pressure. It feels like a very standard, sometimes frustrating run-and-gun experience from the period.
