1994 Amiga action game. 2D side-scrolling shooter with 32 aircraft and 6 helicopters. Complete mission objectives while managing resources. Includes Aerolympics challenge mode.
Jetstrike on the Amiga is one of those games that throws you straight into the deep end with a ridiculous (but weirdly compelling) premise. You're basically a rogue agent fighting SPUDD—some shadowy organization bribing world leaders—by "borrowing" military jets and blowing stuff up. The stakes? If you wreck too many planes, they'll send you back to spy school. No pressure.
The gameplay feels like a faster, slightly chaotic version of Wings of Fury. You’ve got a ton of aircraft to choose from—32 planes and 6 helicopters—which is great until you realize half of them handle like bricks. Missions range from bombing runs to weirdly intense air races in the Aerolympics mode. The side-scrolling action gets frantic fast, especially when dodging missiles or accidentally clipping a mountain because you misjudged the hitbox (happens more than you’d think).
What really sells it is the dry humor—your CO’s mission briefings sound like they’re barely tolerating your existence, and the whole "borrowing" jets thing is just a fancy way to say "steal and hope no one notices." It’s janky in that classic Amiga way, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about barely scraping through a mission with half your plane on fire.
