Game Overview
Jim Power is one of those weird, ambitious Amiga games that throws everything at you—side-scrolling platforming, top-down shooting, even spaceship sections where you’re dodging asteroids. You play as this guy who stumbles into a dimensional rift (because of course he does) and now has to blast his way through monsters to get home.
At first, it feels like a standard run-and-gun, but then you hit a level where suddenly you’re in a ship weaving through obstacles, or the perspective shifts entirely. The gun upgrades help, but some enemies just soak up bullets, so you’ll rely on the screen-clearing smart bomb more than you’d expect. And yeah, the keys—classic ‘90s game design, where you backtrack just enough to make you groan.
It’s janky in places, but there’s something charming about how it refuses to stick to one genre. Just don’t expect the spaceship controls to be forgiving.
