Remember when NBA rivalries actually meant something? This NES classic pits MJ and Larry Legend against each other in three totally different ways. Bird's three-point contest feels weirdly realistic โ you're frantically grabbing balls from those circular racks, trying to find a rhythm before the clock runs out. Meanwhile, Jordan's dunk contest is all about hang time and flair; I still mess up the timing on those tomahawk jams half the time.
The one-on-one mode is where things get personal though. Bird's steals are brutal if you're not careful, but good luck stopping Jordan once he gets airborne. It's not the prettiest basketball sim by today's standards, but there's something raw about how it captures their playing styles. Just don't expect modern controls โ this is pure 8-bit nostalgia.
