Justice League Task Force is one of those weird little fighting games from the mid-90s that feels like a fever dream now. You pick from six DC heroes—Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc.—and mash buttons in some surprisingly stiff combat. It’s not exactly Street Fighter, but there’s something charming about how janky it is.
Fun fact: This was made by Blizzard before they became the Warcraft/Starcraft giants we know today. The sprites are big and colorful, but the controls take some getting used to—Batman’s punches feel like he’s swinging through molasses. Still, if you ever wanted to pit Aquaman against Green Lantern for no reason, here’s your chance.
It’s more of a novelty than a must-play, but worth a look if you’re into obscure 16-bit fighting games.
