Play Kaettekita! Gunjin Shougi - Nanya Sore! Online
Shogi but with tanks and jets—pieces clank around like pots while generals scream "BANZAI!" when captured. Still plays like real shogi, just way louder and sillier.

Game Overview
Ever seen shogi (Japanese chess) but thought, "Man, this needs more explosions and yelling"? That’s basically Kaettekita! Gunjin Shougi - Nanya Sore! in a nutshell. It takes the usual quiet, brainy shogi match and replaces the pieces with these ridiculous military units—tanks for rooks, fighter jets for bishops, and generals who sound like they’ve had way too much coffee.
The first time I played, I lost because I couldn’t stop laughing at the sound effects. Pieces clank around like kitchen pans, and when you capture something, it’s this over-the-top "BANZAI!" scream. The game knows it’s silly—even the title translates to "Wait, what’s that?!"—but somehow, it still works as a legit shogi game underneath all the chaos.
If you’ve ever been intimidated by shogi, this is the version where it’s okay to mess up while a cartoon soldier yells at you. It’s short, weird, and one of those NES deep cuts that makes you wonder who greenlit this idea—but I’m glad they did.
