Play Karate Blazers (World, set 1) Online
Pick a fighter and brawl through gritty streets—dodging knives, smashing thugs, and barely surviving the chaos with just punches and kicks. Chunky arcade sprites and non-stop action make every alleyway brawl feel desperate.

Karate Blazers is a 1991 arcade beat 'em up from Video System that I play through MAME. It fits right in with the era's side scrolling brawlers, offering a straightforward, no frills experience that feels like a product of its time.
You control one of four martial artists tasked with cleaning up the city streets from gangs. The main objective is to fight from the left side of the screen to the right, defeating all enemies before moving on to the next area. Signature mechanics include picking up weapons like knives and pipes dropped by foes, and executing a screen clearing special move at the cost of some health. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can be punishing with aggressive enemy AI and frequent cheap shots from off screen. It feels like a scrappy, sometimes unfair fight where survival depends on quick reactions and managing the chaos.
