Kaseki Sousei Reborn II: Monster Digger came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by J-Wing. You control a young digger exploring a vast underground network of caves, screen by screen, with your pickaxe always ready. Your main goal is to unearth fossil pieces; when you collect a full set, it revives into a monster that joins your team. These monsters fight for you in turn-based battles against wild creatures you encounter while digging, though their obedience isn't guaranteed, especially early on. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you chip away at walls and manage your often-stubborn partners. It feels like a patient, slightly unpredictable grind where every successful dig brings a small thrill of possibility.
