I picked up Kidou Senshi Gundam Seed Destiny for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, a time when portable mecha games were still finding their footing. It was developed by Bandai, and it felt like a solid attempt to bring the dense, political drama of the anime into a tactical format. You don't get the full spectacle of the show, of course, but the sprites are crisp and the music does a decent job of setting the mood for conflict.

You control a squad of mobile suits, each piloted by characters from the series, moving them on grid-based maps to complete objectives, usually the elimination of all enemy units or protecting a specific target. The combat is turn-based; you position your units, choose an attack, and watch the outcome play out in a brief animation. Signature mechanics include the Seed mode, which temporarily boosts a unit's stats under certain conditions, and a morale system that affects performance. The pacing is methodical, almost slow, and the difficulty can spike if you aren't careful with positioning. It feels like a careful game of chess, where a single misstep can leave your favorite Gundam in pieces.
