Play Kiki Kaikai Advance Online
You pick a shrine maiden or tanuki, then frantically dodge waves of yokai attacks while tossing talismans—gets brutal fast, but controls so smoothly you’ll keep retrying.

Kiki Kaikai Advance came out in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance, developed and published by Taito. It was part of that wave of arcade-style games that felt perfectly at home on a handheld, offering quick bursts of action you could pick up anywhere. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, just delivered a solid, focused experience during a time when the GBA library was filling up with all kinds of experiments.
You control either a shrine maiden or a tanuki, moving screen by screen through haunted Japanese landscapes. Your main goal is to purify each area by defeating every enemy, using a bow for direct attacks and tossing ofuda talismans that home in on targets. The screen locks you in until you clear all the yokai, which forces you to master dodging in tight spaces while managing your limited ammo. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes quickly, especially when larger monsters fill the screen with projectiles. It feels tense and demanding, but the responsive controls make every failure feel like your own mistake rather than the game's fault.
