Kingdoms of England is one of those old-school Amiga strategy games where you’re basically trying to claw your way to the throne in 15th-century England. You start with a single province and a tiny budget—just enough to buy a handful of troops or maybe build a wall if you’re feeling defensive. The map’s split into 63 provinces, and you’ll spend most of your time balancing taxes, troop movements, and the occasional backstabbing from rival lords (AI or human).
Battles can go two ways: quick and dirty, where numbers mostly decide the outcome, or full-on tactical mode where you’re manually moving units and lining up catapult shots. The archery tournament every six months is a weird but fun break—you’re suddenly in first-person mode, trying to hit targets for extra cash. It’s janky in that classic Amiga way, but somehow that just adds to the charm.
