I picked up The Land Before Time for Game Boy Advance back in 2001, a game developed by Conspiracy Entertainment and published by NewKidCo. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt right at home on the GBA, a system that saw plenty of colorful, side scrolling adventures aimed at younger players. The game captures the look and feel of the film, with bright, simple visuals and a straightforward premise.
You control Littlefoot, moving through side scrolling levels, jumping across gaps, and avoiding dinosaurs like Sharpteeth. Your main goal is to guide him and his friends through various environments to reach the Great Valley. The gameplay involves basic platforming, collecting berries to restore health, and finding hidden items like special flowers. Some sections let you play as Cera or Petrie, each with their own abilities, which adds a little variety. The pacing is relaxed, and the difficulty is manageable, making it accessible for kids. It feels like a gentle, exploratory trip through a familiar world.
