I picked up Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Prophecy for the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a time when handhelds were really hitting their stride with deeper action-adventure titles. Developed by Ubisoft Milan and published by Ubisoft, it was one of the few attempts to bring a true Tomb Raider experience to the GBA, focusing more on puzzle-solving and exploration than the 3D console games.
You control Lara through a series of isometric, screen-by-screen rooms, each filled with traps, enemies, and environmental puzzles. The main goal is to recover three ancient artifacts by navigating deadly ruins, using Lara's acrobatics to jump gaps and climb walls, and engaging in combat with her dual pistols or other weapons. The pacing is methodical; you spend a lot of time studying room layouts, pushing blocks, and avoiding pressure plates or dart traps. It feels like a thoughtful, sometimes demanding puzzle box that rewards careful observation and timing over pure action.
