Play Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Prophecy Online
Top-down Lara feels weird until you're jumping traps and blasting cultists in tight temple corridors. Passwords instead of saves? Yeah, it's that kind of GBA relic.

I picked up Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Prophecy for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002, a time when handhelds were really coming into their own with these deep, pocket sized adventures. Ubi Soft published it, and it stood out because it wasn't trying to be a 3D console port; it was its own thing, a top down action puzzle game built from the ground up for the hardware. It felt like a natural fit for the system, offering a substantial experience you could chip away at during a commute.
You control Lara through a series of interconnected, screen by screen rooms, navigating environmental hazards, solving switch based puzzles, and fighting off enemies with your pistols and occasional explosives. The main goal is to prevent a cult from obtaining three ancient artifacts, which involves a lot of classic dungeon delving across different global locations. Two mechanics define the experience: precise jumping over pits and traps, and a password based save system that feels very much of its era. The pacing is deliberate, often demanding careful observation and patience, especially in the later, more puzzle heavy sections. It feels satisfying to finally work through a tricky room, the constant threat of a mistimed jump keeping you focused.
