Leading Lap MPV on the Amiga is one of those early 3D racers that somehow makes jagged polygons feel exciting. You start by picking a driver—some are speed demons but slide around corners, others handle like a dream but top out early. Then you choose your car: Formula One for raw speed, rally for grip, or endurance if you want something balanced. I went with the rally car first and immediately regretted it when I spun out on the third turn.

The tracks are surprisingly varied for an older game—twelve in total, with tight city circuits and wide-open desert stretches. Racing against the AI feels tense because they actually make mistakes sometimes (unlike some unforgiving '90s racers). The first-person view is cool but borderline nauseating when you crash, so I stuck with the chase cam most of the time. And yeah, you can play against a friend if you’ve got a null modem cable and a very patient buddy.

It’s not the prettiest racer now, but there’s something satisfying about clawing your way up the championship standings race by race. Just don’t expect modern assists—braking early is non-negotiable.
