I picked up The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning on Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a time when handhelds were full of these kinds of action platformers. It was developed by Amaze Entertainment and published by Sierra, and it felt like a solid attempt to reboot the series for a new generation. The hardware limited the scope, but it still delivered a complete adventure you could take anywhere.

You control Spyro, a young purple dragon, through a series of linear levels. Your main goal is to rescue your fellow dragon allies and unlock your elemental breath powers, like fire, ice, and electricity. The gameplay involves a lot of screen by screen exploration, fighting groups of enemies with basic attacks and your breath weapons, and occasionally solving simple environmental puzzles. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty is manageable, though some enemy encounters can feel repetitive. It feels satisfying to blast through foes and gradually build up Spyro's abilities as you progress.
