Liberation - Captive II is one of those deep, old-school Amiga RPGs that feels like it could eat up your whole weekend if you let it. You start off in this grimy sci-fi dungeon, armed with nothing but a basic weapon and a lot of questions—why are you here? Who trapped you? The controls take a minute to get used to (classic Amiga grid movement), but once you do, it’s weirdly satisfying to inch through dark corridors, picking off enemies one by one.
The graphics are chunky but atmospheric, especially for its time, and the sound design nails that eerie, isolated vibe. Just don’t expect hand-holding—this is the kind of game where you’ll scribble notes on scrap paper to remember which door leads where. If you’ve got the patience for it, there’s a real sense of accomplishment when you finally crack a tough section.
Fair warning: Disk 4 means you’re jumping into the middle of the story, so things might feel a little disjointed at first. But if you’re into retro dungeon crawlers with a sci-fi twist, it’s worth digging up the earlier disks to get the full experience.
