You play as Valdyn, nicknamed "Lionheart," which feels a little on the nose when your mission is to recover a stolen relic that also happens to be called—you guessed it—Lionheart. The whole thing plays out like a classic side-scrolling hack-and-slash, somewhere between Rastan and that one Amiga game your friend swore was amazing but you only half-remember.
The swordplay’s satisfying in a straightforward way—swing wildly, watch things explode into pixelated chunks. The levels scroll in all directions, which was pretty slick for its time, though you’ll occasionally get blindsided by an enemy just offscreen. And yeah, your sword has this weird habit of floating near you like it’s judging your life choices. Still, there’s something oddly charming about charging through medieval landscapes, cleaving through anything dumb enough to stand in your way.
