Play Little Samson (Europe) Online

You switch between four wildly different characters—a tiny knight, a wall-smashing golem, a floating dragon, and a ceiling-crawling mouse—to navigate massive, puzzle-like levels that reward creative pathfinding. The NES sprites pop with personality, and swapping heroes mid-jump never gets old.

Game Overview

Little Samson is one of those NES games that slipped under the radar—probably because it came out right as everyone was moving on to the SNES. But man, it’s a shame more people haven’t played it. You control four different characters (Samson the tiny hero, a dragon, a golem, and a mouse, of all things), and each one handles completely differently. The dragon floats, the golem smashes through walls, the mouse… well, the mouse is weirdly good at climbing ceilings.

The levels are these sprawling, multi-path playgrounds where switching characters on the fly actually matters—none of that gimmicky "use X here just to progress" stuff. And the sprite work? Gorgeous for an NES game, with these little animated details everywhere. It’s tough but fair, and once you get the hang of swapping between characters, it just clicks. One of the best platformers on the system, hands down.
