1992 Amiga RPG where players control Major Thom in real-time combat. Features survival mechanics, skill upgrades, faction interactions, and a quest to find archmage Tessak while battling enemies.
Lords of Time is one of those classic Amiga RPGs that throws you straight into the weirdness. You're Major Thom, a test pilot who accidentally rips a hole in reality mid-flight and ends up stranded in some medieval fantasy world. Waking up by a campfire with no idea what's going on? Yeah, that's your Tuesday now.
The first thing you'll notice is how alive the world feels—people actually go about their day, shops open and close, and if you don't eat or sleep regularly, you're gonna have a bad time. Combat's fast and messy, and those early fights with rusty swords feel appropriately desperate. I remember stumbling into the wrong cave early on and getting wrecked by some overgrown rats.
What really stuck with me was the dialogue. The locals actually react to you like some weird outsider, not just spouting generic fantasy lines. King Tanor's your first lead, but good luck getting straight answers—everyone's got their own agenda, even the supposed allies like the Druids and Dwarves. And Kruel? Let's just say that final showdown with Tessak's help is way more satisfying when you've actually had to scrape together decent gear first.
It's janky in that late '80s way, but there's something special about how it blends survival elements with proper RPG exploration.
