I picked up The Lost Vikings II for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1997, a time when Blizzard Entertainment was still building its reputation. You control three vikings, each with distinct abilities: Olaf uses his shield to block projectiles, Erik dashes and jumps across gaps, and Baelog attacks enemies with his sword. The goal is to guide all three to the exit in each level, often by combining their skills to overcome obstacles. You explore screen by screen, solving environmental puzzles, avoiding hazards, and occasionally fighting enemies. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty ramps up steadily, introducing time limits and more complex enemy patterns that demand careful coordination. It feels satisfying to finally piece together a solution after several attempts.
