M&M's: Break 'em came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Mistic Software. It was one of those many licensed games that showed up on the system, trying to turn a candy brand into something playable. You controlled a sentient M&M, bouncing through themed stages to free your friends from candy captivity.
You guide your M&M character through a series of single-screen levels, ricocheting off walls and obstacles to break all the crystals on screen. Each stage has a time limit, and if you linger too long, a skull appears to chase you down. Special colored blocks require specific M&M characters to break them, encouraging you to switch between Yellow and Green when needed. Power-ups like the wrecking ball temporarily boost your destructive power, letting you plow through obstacles with ease. The game moves quickly, and the physics of your bounces take some getting used to, but once you find a rhythm, itโs satisfying to clear a screen in one clean chain of hits.
