Play Madden NFL '94 (USA, Europe) Online
You pick plays from a slick menu, fake out friends with bluffs, and actually fight for catches—feels like real football for the first time, jank and all.

Game Overview
Madden NFL '94 on the Genesis was where the series really started feeling like football. You get this slick play-call screen where you pick formations—I always went for shotgun on long downs, even if it wasn’t the smartest move. The new pass-catch mode actually made receivers fight for the ball, which was huge after years of watching passes just sail past them. And that bluff play? Total game-changer when you wanted to fake out your buddy in multiplayer.
It still has that classic Madden jank—players clip through each other sometimes, and the commentary is basically just John Madden yelling "BOOM!"—but that’s part of the charm. This was the first one where I felt like I was making real decisions, not just mashing buttons. The graphics were sharp for '93, too, with those chunky player sprites and endzone celebrations that looked ridiculous in the best way.
If you’ve got a Genesis hooked up, this one holds up way better than you’d expect.
