Game Overview

Mahoujin Guruguru on the Game Boy is one of those weird little RPGs that slipped under the radar outside Japan. It’s based on the anime, so you get that same goofy, colorful vibe—think slimes with big dumb grins and wizards who probably should’ve studied harder. You play as this kid who gets roped into being a hero, and the magic system’s actually kind of neat—you draw symbols to cast spells, which feels way more involved than just picking "Fireball" from a menu.

The battles are standard turn-based stuff, but the charm’s in the little details, like how enemies sometimes just... give up mid-fight. There’s a sequel on Super Famicom and a Game Boy Color version too, but this one’s got that classic chunky pixel look. If you’re into retro RPGs with personality, it’s worth digging up.
