Game Overview

Manhunter: New York came out on the Amiga in 1988 from Sierra On-Line. It was part of that wave of early graphic adventures, a time when games were experimenting with mixing genres and telling darker, more complex stories. You play as an agent in a secret police force, a Manhunter, in a future where aliens called the Orbs control a grim, subdued New York City.

You control your agent from an isometric view, moving screen by screen to investigate crime scenes, hack into computer terminals, and gather evidence. The main goal is to track down members of a rebel group by piecing together clues from maps, logs, and conversations with suspects. The game shifts into first-person for certain action sequences, where timing and quick decisions matter. It moves at a deliberate, sometimes slow pace, and the puzzles can be quite difficult, demanding careful observation. Playing it feels like being a detective in a cold, systematic world where every detail could be a breakthrough or a dead end.
