Manhunter: New York is this weird, moody Amiga game where you play as a bounty hunter in a dystopian New York controlled by alien overlords. Everyone’s forced to wear brown robes and stay silent—mess up, and the Orbs send you after them. The whole thing feels like Blade Runner meets 1984, but with more pixelated alleyways.
You start each case by scanning civilian movement logs on this clunky overhead map (the "MAD" computer), piecing together who crossed paths with the victim. Then you dive into first-person scenes at ruined landmarks, clicking around for clues—sometimes a bloody knife, sometimes a half-buried note. Get it wrong, and the Orbs aren’t exactly forgiving.
Between investigations, there are these sudden arcade bits where you’re dodging gangs or throwing knives in a seedy bar. They’re janky but tense—like the game keeps switching genres just to keep you off-balance. The whole thing’s got this eerie, oppressive vibe that sticks with you. Definitely one of the more unique dystopian games from the Amiga era.
