Play Medabots : Rokusho Version (E) Online
You customize beetle-bots with samurai armor, then outthink opponents in turn-based scraps where energy management decides fights. Hunting for weird robot parts feels like Pokémon but with more screwdrivers.

Medabots: Rokusho Version came out on Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Natsume and published by Imagineer. It was part of that wave of monster-collecting RPGs that really defined the handheld's library, though it always had its own mechanical identity. You play as a kid who gets a Medabot, which is basically a customizable fighting robot, and you join a world where kids battle these things like a sport.
You control your character from a top-down perspective, exploring towns and talking to other characters to pick up quests and clues. The main goal is to build up your Medabot, Rokusho, by winning battles and collecting new parts to improve its performance. Combat is turn-based, with each part of your Medabot (arms, legs, head, etc.) having its own moves and energy costs; managing that energy is crucial because if you overuse an attack, that part becomes unusable for a turn. You also hunt for rare medals and parts by defeating rival Medabots, which gives the game a steady, almost puzzle-like rhythm as you optimize your loadout. It feels like tinkering with a machine until everything clicks into place.
