Game Overview

Medarot Nii Core: Kabuto Version is one of those GBA games that somehow flew under the radar, which is a shame because it's basically Pokémon with robot-building and way more customization. You start off with Metabee—this beetle-looking Medabot with serious attitude—and from there it's all about tweaking your squad's parts, testing weird loadouts, and getting into surprisingly tactical turn-based fights.

The battles look simple at first, but then you realize swapping out a single arm part completely changes how your bot fights. I spent way too long in the garage screen trying to balance speed and firepower, only to get wrecked by some kid with a clever counter-build. The story's got that goofy anime charm too, full of rival trainers and ridiculous tournament arcs.

If you ever watched Medabots as a kid, this hits all the nostalgia buttons. Even if you didn't, it's just a solid, meaty RPG with pixel art that still pops on the GBA screen. Just don't blame me when you lose an hour tweaking your Medabot's legs for no good reason.
