Metalgun Slinger came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Natsume. It was part of that wave of action games that really tried to push what the hardware could do, with fast movement and detailed sprites. You control a lone gunslinger making your way through hostile territory. Your main goal is to survive screen by screen, clearing out mutants and robotic enemies with your revolver. The signature mechanics include a slide move to dodge under attacks and a partner character who rides a bike; you can jump on the back to cover ground quickly and shoot from a moving platform. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can spike during boss fights, which demand quick reflexes and pattern recognition. It feels like a tense, mobile shootout where every shot and dodge matters.
