Game Overview

I remember playing MiG-29 Fulcrum on the Amiga back in 1991. Domark and Ocean Software published it, and it was one of those flight sims that tried to balance realism with action during a time when the Amiga was full of ambitious, visually rich games. It didn't try to be the most complex sim out there, but it had a certain focus that made it stand out.

You pilot a MiG-29 fighter jet through six combat missions, engaging in dogfights against enemy aircraft and performing ground strikes on targets like tanks and installations. The game gives you control over weapon selection, including missiles and cannons, and you have to manage your speed and altitude to avoid stalling or blacking out from G-forces. The missions are fairly linear but require careful navigation and target prioritization; it's not overly difficult, but it demands attention. Flying low to avoid radar, lining up a shot on a moving jet, and pulling up just in time to evade a missile creates a tense, immersive rhythm.
