Play Might and Magic – Gates to Another World Online
You wander a first-person fantasy world mapping dungeons by hand, juggling spells mid-combat while skeletons lurch at you—bring graph paper and extra torches. That magic system? Trial, error, and cryptic clues.

Might and Magic: Gates to Another World came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by New World Computing. It was one of the few first-person RPGs on the console, a deep and complex alternative to the more action-oriented titles of the era. You really had to invest time to get anywhere, which made it stand out.
You control a party of four adventurers, creating them from scratch and guiding them through a large, mysterious world. The main goal is to explore the land of Tundara, find the five Gates to Another World, and stop the evil Sheltem. You move screen by screen through towns, wilderness, and multi-level dungeons, mapping everything yourself (graph paper was practically required). Combat is turn-based; you input commands for each character, managing weapons, spells, and health. The pacing is slow and deliberate, and the difficulty is high, with resource management for food and light being a constant concern. It feels like a true, hands-on expedition into the unknown.
