Might & Magic III for the Amiga is one of those old-school RPGs that somehow still feels fresh. You start off creating a party of adventurers—fighters, mages, clerics, the usual suspects—and then get dumped onto the Isles of Terra with little more than a rusty dagger and a vague sense of direction. The world’s huge, packed with hidden dungeons, weird NPCs, and monsters that’ll wreck you if you’re not careful.

What I love about it is how open it feels. You can wander into a cave way above your level, get stomped by a pack of trolls, and then spend the next few hours grinding random encounters just to go back and get revenge. The graphics are charmingly pixelated, and the turn-based combat’s simple but satisfying once you get the hang of it. Just don’t forget to save often—this game doesn’t hold your hand.

If you’re into classic RPGs with a bit of jank and a lot of heart, this one’s still worth firing up.
