Game Overview

Migrain was a Game Boy puzzle game released in 1990 by developer Sachen. It arrived during a period when the handheld was flooded with simple, often unlicensed, titles trying to capitalize on the system's massive popularity. This one stood out for its particular brand of visual and mental strain.

You control a cursor to swap colored blocks, aiming to match three or more of the same color to clear them from the screen. The main objective is simply to survive as long as possible against a rising stack of blocks. Its signature mechanics involve the screen deliberately glitching and warping as you play, distorting your view, while the music's tempo increases to match the rising tension. The pacing is relentlessly stressful, designed to overwhelm your senses. It feels like desperately trying to solve a puzzle while someone is actively shaking the table.
