Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! came out for the NES in 1988, published by Nintendo. It was one of those games that really stood out on the system, with its colorful cast of boxers and sharp, responsive controls. You played as Little Mac, a small but determined fighter trying to climb the ranks of the World Video Boxing Association.

You control Mac from a behind the back perspective, bobbing and weaving to avoid punches while looking for openings to strike. The goal is to defeat each opponent in three rounds or less, working your way up to the final bout with Mike Tyson himself. Key mechanics include reading tells from each boxer's movements, timing dodges and counters precisely, and building up a star meter for powerful special punches. The game moves quickly, and the difficulty ramps up sharply as you advance, especially in the later fights. It feels tense and rewarding when you finally learn an opponent's patterns and land that knockout blow.
