Game Overview

Mission Impossible on the NES is one of those games that sneaks up on you—literally. You start off thinking it's just another spy romp, but then you realize you're spending way more time hiding in closets and swapping disguises than shooting anything. The top-down view makes everything feel like a puzzle, where getting spotted means instant alarms and a mad scramble to reset.

The soundtrack nails that old-school espionage tension, and the levels are just tricky enough to make you feel clever when you finally crack them. I remember getting stuck for ages on this one part where you have to time your movements between patrolling guards—super satisfying once you nail it. Definitely more Metal Gear than Contra, if that makes sense.

Fair warning: it’s tough, but in that way where you keep coming back because you know there’s a solution. If you’ve got a soft spot for NES-era stealth or just want something different from the usual run-and-gun, this one’s a solid pick.
