You control Mulan through side-scrolling levels, using her sword for close combat and a bow for ranged attacks. Mushu occasionally joins to breathe fire on command, clearing groups of enemies. The main goal is to advance screen by screen, defeating Huns and navigating environmental obstacles, including a notoriously tricky horseback riding stage. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later areas. It feels like a competent, straightforward action game that captures the movie's energy without overcomplicating things.
