Mutant League Hockey is basically hockey if someone replaced the ice with a minefield and the players with mutants who'd rather fight than score. It's chaotic, ridiculous, and somehow still feels like hockey—just with way more explosions. You’ve got familiar faces from Mutant League Football like Bones Jackson (who looks like he’d rather punch you than pass), and the whole thing plays like a fever dream EA cooked up after too much caffeine.
The first time I played, I spent half the game laughing at the absurd power-ups and the other half getting wrecked by the AI. The rink’s full of hazards—acid puddles, trapdoors, you name it—and the refs don’t care if you straight-up murder the other team. It’s not deep strategy, but who needs that when you can body-check someone into a pit?
If you liked the over-the-top violence of the football version, this one’s just as stupidly fun. Just don’t expect a serious sports sim.
