Play NBA Live 96 Online

Tiny players in black or white jerseys sprint downcourt—you call plays with a few basic moves, tweak quarter lengths, and somehow it still feels like real NBA action in your pocket. The rosters are nameless, but those logos and team names keep it just legit enough.

Game Overview

NBA Live 96 came out for the Game Boy in 1995, published by Electronic Arts. It was one of the few basketball games on the handheld at the time, and it tried to bring a full court experience to that small green screen. You got real team names and logos, which made it feel a little more official than some other portable sports titles back then.

You control all five players on your chosen NBA team, moving them up and down the court to score baskets and play defense. The main objective is to win games by outscoring the computer or a friend via link cable. You pass, shoot, and steal using the limited buttons; there's a shot meter for timing your releases, and you can call basic plays like picks. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially against tougher teams. It feels surprisingly complete for a Game Boy cart, a real pocket-sized game of hoops.
