Play New Zealand Story (E) Online
Guide Tiki the kiwi bird through colorful stages to rescue his kidnapped friends.

New Zealand Story came to the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, published by Ocean Software. It was a port of the arcade game by Taito, and on the NES it fit right in with the platformers and action games of the late 80s, offering a bright, fast alternative to some of the more methodical titles of the era.
You control Tiki, a small kiwi bird, moving screen by screen through levels filled with enemies and environmental hazards. Your main goal is to find and rescue your captured kiwi friends, who are hidden somewhere in each stage. You start with a simple bow, but can pick up different weapons like lasers or bombs from defeated enemies; you also find balloons that let you float for a short time, which is essential for navigating some tricky jumps. The game moves quickly and the difficulty is relentless, with enemies swarming and precise platforming required. It feels frantic and demanding, but also rewarding when you finally clear a tough section and spot one of your friends waiting ahead.
