1992 Amiga golf sim with 3 courses, including Mars. Play vs 8 AI or 4 players. Swing mechanics use power setting, timing, and wrist snap. Wind and rough affect shots. Match or stroke play modes.
Nick Faldo's Championship Golf on the Amiga is one of those old-school golf sims that actually makes you think. The Reality3 engine gives it this weirdly immersive 3D feel for its time—you’ve got two proper courses, plus this ridiculous (but fun) hidden Mars course where the ball just floats forever because, well, low gravity.
What’s interesting is how the swing works: you pick your power before starting the backswing, then have to time a click within this shrinking target zone—stronger shots mean a tighter window. Mess it up, and you’re either whiffing or sending the ball into the rough, which is brutal to recover from. There’s even a wrist-snap button for extra oomph, but good luck nailing it consistently.
You can play against up to seven friends or AI opponents (who actually put up a decent fight), and the wind physics are oddly detailed for a game this old. It’s not forgiving, but that’s what makes sinking a long putt feel so satisfying. Just don’t blame me when you rage-quit after botching the 18th hole.
