Download No Greater Glory - The American Civil War_Disk2 ROM – Amiga Game
1991 Amiga strategy game. Play as Union or Confederacy, managing military, economic, and political aspects of the American Civil War. Features historical battles and strategic decision-making.
No Greater Glory drops you right into the Civil War as either Lincoln or Davis, and man, does it make you sweat the big decisions. You're not just moving armies around—you're juggling politics, money, and public opinion while trying not to bankrupt your side by winter. I remember staring at the map for ages, wondering if sending Grant south was worth the riots back home over conscription.
The battles play out across this chunky pixelated map of the whole eastern U.S., with little army sprites clashing over railroads and rivers. At first I kept losing because I forgot to actually pay my troops, which... yeah, that went poorly. The manual's full of dry historical notes that suddenly become very relevant when your cavalry gets stuck in Tennessee mud.
It's one of those games where you'll lose three times before realizing cotton exports matter just as much as cannons. Still weirdly satisfying when you finally outmaneuver the AI and take Richmond.
