Game Overview

Oliver & Company on the Amiga is one of those licensed Disney games that somehow manages to be both charming and frustrating in equal measure. You play as Oliver the cat, bouncing through side-scrolling levels that loosely follow the movie’s plot—except with way more random pits to fall into and enemies popping up out of nowhere.

The controls feel a little floaty, like you’re never quite sure if Oliver will land that jump or overshoot it entirely. And the hit detection? Let’s just say you’ll swear you dodged that dog but nope, lost a life anyway. Still, the pixel art is surprisingly detailed for an Amiga title, and the music’s catchy enough to keep you going even after the third cheap death in a row.

It’s not the best platformer out there, but if you’ve got nostalgia for the movie or just love punishingly cute 16-bit games, it’s worth a look.
