On the Road is one of those deep, slightly chaotic management sims where you run a trucking company—but with way more going on than just hauling cargo. You start in a tiny office, clicking around on a clunky but charming interface (the phone brings up calls, the desk opens finances, etc.), and suddenly you’re juggling truck repairs, shady deals, lawsuits, and drivers who keep getting pulled over in Austria because you forgot about their night driving ban.

The radio system is weirdly immersive—you’re literally barking orders at your drivers like a stressed-out dispatcher, trying to keep them from speeding or running illegal loads. And just when things get busy, the game forces you to take breaks (your manager gets exhausted), leaving your drivers unsupervised while you watch a map of Europe, helpless, as rival companies swoop in. Of course, you can cut rest short… if you’re okay with your character slowly crumbling under the stress.

It’s got that classic Amiga mix of spreadsheet-like strategy and bizarre little details—like hiring a sketchy "specialist" to sabotage competitors or flying to new cities to expand your empire. Not the prettiest game, but it pulls you into its weird little world faster than you’d expect.
