Game Overview

Operation Logic Bomb came out in 1993 for the Super Nintendo, developed and published by Jaleco. It was part of that wave of early 90s action games that tried to blend different genres, in this case mixing run and gun shooting with light puzzle solving in a sci-fi setting. It didn't get a huge amount of attention at the time, but it had a certain style that made it stand out on a shelf.

You control a combat cyborg named D-9, and your mission is to stop a rogue supercomputer from destroying the world. The gameplay is screen by screen; you move through a large, interconnected facility, clearing rooms of robotic enemies and hunting for keycards to unlock new areas. A central mechanic is your ability to switch between three different weapon modes on the fly: a standard shot, a powerful but short-range flamethrower, and a homing missile. The level layouts are mazelike and require some backtracking once you find new keys, and the difficulty is pretty unforgiving, with limited continues. It feels like a tense, methodical scramble through a hostile digital fortress where every new door could lead to a nasty surprise.
