Game Overview

I first played Pac-Man on MS-DOS back in the 80s, part of the MS-DOS Classic Games release from 1983. It was a straightforward port by Namco, and on those early PCs, it felt like a small miracle just to have something so recognizable running on a machine built more for spreadsheets than games. The graphics were blocky, the sound was tinny, but it was Pac-Man, and that was enough.

You control the yellow circle, moving him through a maze to eat all the dots while avoiding four colored ghosts. The main goal is to clear each screen of dots, but the real challenge comes from the ghosts' patterns; they don't just wander randomly. Eating a power pellet lets you turn the tables and chase them for a short time, and the occasional fruit that appears offers bonus points if you can grab it. The pacing is relentless, with the ghosts speeding up as you progress, and the difficulty spikes quickly. It feels tense and rewarding when you narrowly slip past a ghost or clear a tricky board.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
