I picked up Palamedes for the Game Boy back in 1992, a puzzle game from Hot B that felt right at home on the handheld. You control a cursor at the bottom of the screen, selecting and matching dice from a grid above to clear rows. The main goal is to clear all the dice before they stack up and reach the bottom, ending your game. The core mechanics involve matching dice by their face value, and you can also create chains by clearing multiple sets in one move for bigger points. It starts off relaxed, but the pace picks up quickly, demanding faster decisions as the rows descend. It feels like a race against a slow but steady clock, and pulling off a last-second clear is always a relief.
