Pepenga Pengo came out for the Sega Genesis in 1995, developed and published by Sega. It was part of that later wave of Genesis titles, the kind that didn't get a lot of fanfare but offered something a little different from the usual platformers and fighters dominating the system at the time.
You control a small penguin on a grid-based screen, sliding around to push ice blocks. The main goal is to crush the bee-like enemies by ramming blocks into them, all while rescuing your fellow penguins trapped in ice. The mechanics are straightforward: you slide in one direction until you hit a wall or an obstacle, and you can also stun enemies temporarily with a shout. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty comes from the increasingly cramped stages and the need to plan your pushes carefully. It feels like a tense, sliding puzzle where one wrong move can box you in completely.
